Full launch promo version. Editing by Alter Ego Creates.
Combining the musical super star Kesha with friends hunting for ghosts in haunted locations, TRVL network wanted to create a fun albeit still spooky launch campaign for the new series. I was brought on to the project for a technically demanding role that involved not only traditional compositing of greenscreen elements, but also building to-scale virtual 1970’s themed sets in 3D and incorporating Mosys camera tracking system data from a live action shoot in Los Angeles. We also had to visualize several lens focal lengths to see what would be appropriate in considering how the live action talent would be framed in a virtual set and incorporated together. This was the first time for me working with the Mosys tracking system in Unreal engine and incorporating 3D assets from Unreal into a composite which was an interesting challenge. In the end all came together nicely for a super spooky launch trailer!

Although not very complex, it was interesting to build virtual sets to scale for a live action stage. Here is some renders of the process along the way.
Shots I composited along with a short walk through of incorporated Mosys camera data playing back live in Unreal engine. The camera data was recorded live on a sound stage with Kesha in Los Angeles and was plugged back into Unreal Engine via a virtual camera here and played back live. It has been very interesting working in real time with 3D assets.
This was an additional 1970’s inspired set that I built with original textures generated in Substance Painter and incorporated for use in Unreal engine.
